About the artist:
| Following a photography course at Sint-Lukas, Brussels, Marike Rutten moved to Florence in 1997 to study old masters' techniques in drawing and painting; first at Charles Cecil Studios and, subsequently, with the painter Richard Serrin. |
On her return to Brussels, October 2000, Marike Rutten established an independent work base. Presently, though not exclusively, she derives inspiration from photographic images for painting portraits. Other work includes the still life genre. |
